The 315 Deserves a Night Out Too

Syracuse University has a strong Indian student community that most people outside of central New York don’t know about. DeWitt and Fayetteville have the suburban desi families. And somewhere in between, there’s a growing number of single South Asians who came here for school or work and realized the dating options are limited to the apps and the occasional cultural event that feels more like a family reunion.

Garam Masala Dating is the #1 live South Asian dating show and singles mixer that sells out in NYC every week. The format: real singles go on blind dates on stage in front of 250 people. The audience watches, the hosts keep it real, and before and after the show, everyone in the room mixes. No awkward icebreakers. No name tags. Just a room full of people who showed up.

Central New York is underserved in every way when it comes to social events for South Asian singles. Rochester is an hour west. Albany is an hour and a half east. You’re stuck in the middle with a dining scene that’s improving and a dating scene that isn’t.

We’re exploring Syracuse as a future tour stop. The student population refreshes every year, the local desi community provides a stable base, and the hunger for something new is real. Get on the waitlist or apply to be a contestant. The 315 deserves a night out too.
