KU Leuven is the largest university in Belgium and one of the oldest in Europe, and its engineering and science programmes attract a consistent stream of Indian students and researchers. IMEC, the semiconductor research institute headquartered here, is a global leader in nanoelectronics and employs Indian engineers and scientists in numbers that would surprise people who've never heard of the place. This tiny Flemish city punches way above its weight in terms of concentrated brainpower.
